About Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a powerful tool for self-improvement in all areas of your life - mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually. By accessing the subconscious mind, you allow yourself to get to the root or the "forgotten" programming - the habitual and behavioral controlling thoughts, habits, beliefs, feelings and emotions - that you may have taken for granted, explaining it as, "That's the way I am." This "unconscious" thought process has been directing your life. Hypnosis assists you to be receptive to accessing and transforming those beliefs and habits quickly and easily so that personal growth can be achieved and you can begin to take control of your life!

Can I be hypnotized? Anyone can be hypnotized, if they choose to be. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and a 100% consent state. Understanding how hypnosis works, what it can do for you, listening to a meditation tape before your session, giving yourself permission to relax and having good rapport with your hypnotist, all contribute toward allowing yourself to be hypnotized.

How can I do this? There are several aspects for a successful session. They are: Motivation - you must want to be change a habit or address an issue. A decision only you can make. Relaxation and Concentration - giving yourself permission to relax so you can focus your concentration on yourself and the issue. Imagination - imagine or visualize a desired change. We all have the ability to do this. Think of your car. What shape is it? Color? This is visualization! Suggestibility - feeling comfortable with and accepting positive, real and believable suggestions that are offered, pertinent to the issue.

Did you know...? The practice of hypnosis dates back to ancient cultures. Also, all of us experience some level of hypnosis each day. Have you ever driven home and wondered, "How'd I get here?" Or, watching a movie or reading a good book, you are so absorbed that you don't hear someone calling your name? Daydreaming? These are all states of hypnosis.

But, I've seen hypnosis shows, and I know... "It's mind control. You'll make me cluck like a chicken." Actually, for hypnotists to have a successful show, they screen their audience for highly suggestible participants. They chose people that are engrossed in the show, intently following all instructions the hypnotist offers. These people would be willing to do funny things, sing and dance like a rock star or bark like a dog, in a conscious state. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and 100% consent state!

What does it feel like to be hypnotized? During hypnosis, your body is deeply relaxed yet your mind is very alert, very aware of all sounds and movements that are going on around you. You may experience physical sensations, such as tingling in fingers or limbs; numbness; warmth or coolness; a heavy sensation, like you are sinking into the chair; or, a light, floating feeling or sensation; eyes may flutter, roam or water.

Some people also experience increased emotions. Clients are encouraged to express themselves any way necessary so to accelerate healing and their personal potential.

How is information received? You may receive it in a variety of ways - a knowing or an awareness; visualize or picture of images; as an impression; in detail or fragmentary; a sensation information is being whispered in your ear; as quick and cloudy impressions; you may experience it like watching a movie, complete with audio and visual. As each person is unique, so is their ability to receive information. While in session, trust the way you receive it. It will be right and perfect for you.

How long is a session? An average session is approximately sixty to ninety minutes in length.

What if you make me tell you things I'd rather keep to myself? You are totally aware and in control at all times! During your session, you offer information that you feel is necessary to assist yourself. Also, you can choose to end the session at anytime, having the ability to emerge (return) to a conscious state simply by opening your eyes.

What can I do before my session? Reading this informational sheet will assist you to understand how hypnosis works and what it can do for you. If you still have questions, please feel free to call before your session. Feeling comfortable and confident with hypnosis, and your hypnotist, will assist you to have a successful and beneficial session. Listening to meditation tapes before your session is also beneficial. Most importantly, ask yourself, "Am I ready and dedicated to doing what is necessary for me to maintain permanent changes that hypnosis offers?"

Please know the hypnotist will offer positive suggestions and self-hypnosis "tools" for you during your session. It is through your receptivity, commitment and dedication to accepting the suggestions and using the "tools" offered that permanent change is maintained. Like any habit, it requires consistent reinforcement.

What happens now? Feeing confident with how hypnosis works and comfortable with the hypnotist, you're ready for your session. Information, pertinent to the issue you wish to address, will be gathered. Once that is completed, you will recline in a comfortable chair with low lighting and relaxing music. Relaxation suggestions are given to assist you to relax further, so you can begin to focus your attention and concentration on the issue that you wish to change. During your session, you remain totally aware, in control and an active participant at all times, with the hypnotist as your guide. Personalized self-hypnosis tapes are made during your session to reinforce permanent changes for smoking cessation, weight management, stress management, and more.

You are able to tap into the subconscious mind that retains all that you have ever experienced, sensed, heard, tasted and smelled. It also contains all your behavioral and habitual thoughts, ideas, feelings and beliefs. In order to access it, to make the changes you want, you need to be able to bypass the conscious mind or 'gate keeper', the part that wants to keep the gate closed to the subconscious mind because its easier to 'keep things the way they are'. Hypnosis is the key to unlock it!

Once you are in a state of hypnosis, the gate swings open, allowing you to access all that is in your subconscious mind. You are able to begin to address and resolve the issue you are here for, accepting only believable and positive suggestions that you know are pertinent and comfortable for you and your belief system. The subconscious mind, like a computer, responds to what you take out and then put in, essentially, you are "re-programming" yourself. When combined with strong, positive reinforced repetition (self-hypnosis), these suggestions are your new habits and behaviors, a part of who you are by choice!

What happens when the session is complete? You will be emerged by the hypnotist, feeling relaxed and refreshed, as if you had a long rest. Your experience and new goals will then be discussed.

How many sessions do I need? This varies with each client and issue being addressed. Imagine each issue is much like an artichoke. There are layers that need to be peeled away so to get to the "heart." For a moment, think of how many years you have held onto an issue and how it has directed your life. It is important to be patient with yourself and the process of hypnosis, so you can gain self-empowerment and the happiness you deserve. How ever many sessions needed is worth it!
